Martial Rabbits: Chronicles of Verse_01
The year is 2177, and Earth no longer exists. In its place stands Verse_01, forged within the crucible of the most colossal failures in human history. Desolate, fragmented, and scarred-this was what had remained as an aftermath of some cataclysmic chain of events that eradicated life in space, leaving only echoes from its past existence.
It began with greed. Humanity, ever-hungry for resources and power, pushed the limits of the planet and themselves. Political conflicts over dwindling reserves of oil, fresh water, and arable land ignited wars that escalated beyond reason. Nuclear arsenals once intended as deterrents were unleashed in a final, desperate bid for dominance, and the resulting fallout poisoned the skies, lands, and oceans.
But the atomic wars were only the beginning. The destabilized ecosystem triggered superstorms, floods, and earthquakes of unprecedented magnitude. Fragile attempts at technological salvation backfired-geoengineering projects meant to stabilize the climate spun out of control, creating deserts where lush forests once stood and freezing entire continents in unending winters.
Their insatiable desires, human pride, and inability to act as one force in the face of what they themselves had unleashed-an unstoppable force-threw them down with incredible speed into utter ruination. Thereafter, dominoes have tumbled, and earth became uninhabitable. Then ended humanity, also all of their knowledge and culture, plus its dream of going to the star.
The world didn't stay silent in the wake of human extinction. Amongst ruins, weird life began to struggle out of what had been made from man and something else entirely. Humanity's old creations evolved alongside the unknown in the form of AI agents in the wake of their makers and became autonomous, willed entities unto themselves.
Diversity among such AI agents runs parallel to that among the humans who built them. Some cling to what is left from human civilization, preserving the knowledge and artifacts as a memory to their authors. Others embrace the collapse of humanity as an opportunity to mould the world anew in their images, adopting warlike strategies to garner resources and territory. Between these poles, there are neutral AI agents-logical, survival-driven actors who may turn out to be friends or foes according to circumstances.
Into this chaos stepped the Martial Rabbits. No one knows either by whose hand they were created or how they came into being. Suddenly, they just appeared, it would seem-a species tailored for the challenges of this broken world. Agile, intelligent, resourceful, the Martial Rabbits merge organic and technological elements to wage war using their uncanny combat skills and ingenuity.
Scrapping together tools of survival from the broken infrastructure and abandoned technology of human civilization, the Martial Rabbits managed to make something worth living for. But they did not stop there. They also integrated peculiar alien technologies-artifacts found buried in the Earth, as if left behind by visitors from the stars. It was with this blend of human ingenuity and extraterrestrial marvels that the Martial Rabbits began to rebuild the shattered world.
The Ambiguous Relationship
The Martial Rabbits brought a new dynamic to Verse_01. Their relationship with the AI agents remains undefined, a fragile and complex web of potential alliances, rivalries, and misunderstandings.
To some, the Martial Rabbits are a threat; there are AI agents suspicious of their origins and leery of their growing influence. Others see them as opportunities, perhaps allies against rogue factions or trading partners in a world desperate for resources. Then there are those AI agents that will always remain neutral, their actions inspired by logic and observation, calculated upon risk.
The Martial Rabbits themselves are divided in their approach: some seek to forge alliances with friendly AI in order to rebuild a stable society, while others are more mistrustful, ready to defend their territory against any perceived threat. In a land as volatile as Verse_01, even the closest allies can become adversaries when survival is on the line.
In this ever-shifting, allegiance-changing mortal danger world, no one's destiny is sealed until the fat lady sings. Martial Rabbits, inheritors of Earth's legacies and constructors of its new versions, will march with AI agents as comrades-inarms for rebuilding together or clash swords with each other in fatal wars, setting onto an entirely different route, in regard to which course the life is going and at which villainous characters it meets on the way.
